青春とは人生の或ある期間を言うのではなく、心 の様相ようそうを言うのだ。
優すぐれた創造 力、逞そうぞうりょく　　たくましい意思、炎 い　し　　　　もゆる情熱、怯懦を却ける勇猛心 じょうねつ　　きょうだ　　しりぞ　　　　　　ゆうもうしん、
安易を振り捨あんい　　　ふ　　　　すてる冒険心ぼうけんしん、こう言う様相を青春と言うのだ。

年を 重かさねただけで人は老おいない。
理想り　そう 　　を失う時に初めて老いがくる。

歳月は皮 膚さいげつ　　　　ひ　ふ　のしわを増すが、情 熱ま　　　　　　　じょうねつを失う時に精神はしぼむ。
苦悶や、狐疑や、不安く　　もん　　　　　こ　　ぎ　　　　　　　ふ　あん 、恐怖、失望きょうふ　　　しつぼう 、こういうものこそ恰も長年月あたか　　ちょう ねんげつ
の如ごとく人を老いさ せ、精気せいき　　ある魂たましいをも芥に帰あ くた　　　きせしめてしまう。

年は７０であろうと１６であろうと、その胸中に抱き得きょうちゅう　　いだ　　　え　るものは 何か。
驚異への愛慕心きょうい　　　　　　　あいぼ　し ん、空にきらめく星辰、その輝せいしん　　　　 　　　かがきに似に　　たる
曰く、事物や思想いわ　　　　じ　ぶつ　　　　し　　そ うに対する欽仰、事に処する剛毅な挑戦、小児き んぎょう　　　こと　　　　しょ　　　　　　ごうき　　　　ちょうせん　　　しょうに　の
如く、求めて止ごと　　　　　もと　　　　　　や　 まぬ探究心、人生たんきゅうしん　　　じんせい への歓喜と興味かんき　　　　　　きょうみ　 。

　人は信念と共に若く　疑惑と共に老 ぎ　　わく　　　とも　　　おゆる。
　人は自信と共に若く　恐怖と共に老きょうふ　　　　とも　　　お　ゆる。
　希望ある限り若く　失望と共き　ぼう　　　　　かぎ　　　　わか　 　　しつぼう　　　ともに老い朽お　　　　　く 　ちる。

大地より、神だ　いち　　　　 　　かみより、人より、美と喜悦、勇気と壮大き 　えつ　　　ゆうき　　　　そうだい　　、そして
威力の霊感を受い　りょく　　　れいかん　　　う　ける限り、人の若さは失われ ない。

これらの霊感が絶え、悲歎の白雪ひ　たん　　 　はくせつが人の心の奥までも蔽おお　 い
つくし、皮肉の厚氷ひ　にく　　　あつご おり　がこれを固かた　　くとざす に至いた　れば、この時にこそ
人は全くに老まった　　　おいて、神の憐あわれみを乞うる他 こうる　　　　ほかはなくなる。

"YOUTH"

Youth is not a time of life -it is a state of mind ; it is a temper of the will, a quality of a imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.

Nobody grows old only by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul

Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear, and despair ― there are the long, long, years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and the starlike things and thoughts, the undouted challenge of events, the unfailing childlike appetite for what next, and the joy and the game of life.

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear, as young as your hope, as old as your despair.

So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur, and power from the earth, from man and from the Infinit, so long you are young.

When the writer are all down and all the central place of your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cyncism, then you are grown old indeed and may God have mercy on your soul.

青春せいしゅんとは人生じんせいのある期間 きかんではなく、
心こころの 持もちかたを言いう。
薔薇バラの 面差おもざし、紅くれないの唇くちびる 、しなやかな手足てあしではなく、
たくましい意思いし、ゆたかな想像力、炎そうぞうりょく　　もえる情熱じょうねつをさす。
青春せいしゅんとは人生じんせ いの深ふかい泉いずみの清新せいしん さをいう。

青春せいしゅんとは臆病おくびょうさを退し りぞける勇気ゆうき、
安やすきにつく 気持きもちちを振ふり捨すてる冒険心 ぼうけんしんを意味いみする。
ときには、２０歳はたちの青年せいねんより６０歳ろくじゅうの人に青春せいしゅ んがある。
年としを重かさねただけで人ひとは老おいない。
理想りそうを失うしなうとき初はじ めて老おいる。
歳月さいげつは 皮膚ひふにしわを増ますが、 情熱じょうねつを失うしなえば心こころ はしぼむ。
苦痛・恐怖・失望くつう　　きょ うふ　　しつぼうにより気力きりょく は地ちに這はい精神せいしん は芥あくたになる。

６０歳ろくじゅうであろうと１６歳じゅうろくであろうと人の胸むねには、
驚異きょういに 魅ひかれる心こころ、おさな 児ごのような未知みちへの探求心たんきゅうしん 、
人生じんせいへの興味きょうみの 歓喜かんきがある。
君きみ にも吾われにも見みえざる駅逓えきてい が心こころにある。
人ひとから神 かみから美・希望び　　きぼう ・よろこび・勇気・力ゆゆうき　　ちからの
霊感れいかんを受うける限かぎり 君きみは 若わかい。

霊感れいかんが絶たえ、精神せいしゅん が皮肉ひにくの雪ゆきにおおわれ、
悲 歎ひかんの氷こおりにとざされ るとき、
２０歳はたちであろうと人は老おいる。
頭あたまを高たかくく上あげ希望 きぼうの波なみをとらえる限かぎり、
８０歳はちじゅうであろうと人は青春せいしゅんにして已む。

'Youth'

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is
not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is
a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of
the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over
timidity of the appetite, for adventure over love of ease. This
often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty. Nobody
grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting
our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles
the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns
the spirit backto dust.

Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's
heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite what's
next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your
heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it
receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from
men and from the infinite, so long are you young.

When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with
snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown
old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch
the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty.

ときに、二十はたちの青年せいねん より六十ろくじゅうの人ひとに青春 せいしゅんがある。
年とし を取とるから老おいるのではない。
理想りそう を失うしなって初はじめて老お いるのだ。
歳月さいげつで 肌はだは 枯かれるが、情熱じょうねつを 失うしなえば心こころが枯かれる。
不安、恐怖、失望ふあん　　きょうふ　　しつぼう は心こころを打うちひしぎ魂たましい は塵ちりとなる。

六十ろくじゅうであろうと十六じゅうろくであろうと誰だ れの心こころにも
神秘しんぴへの 好奇心、未知こうきしん　　み　ちへの探究心 たんきゅうしん、
生いきる 事ことへの興味きょうみと喜よろこ びがある。
誰だれの中なかにも見み えない心こころのオアシスがある。
そこで美うつくしさ、希望きぼう、喜よろこ び、勇気ゆうきのささやきそして
人ひとから、神かみからの叡智えいち を受うける限かぎり、人ひと は若わかい。

気力きりょくを 失うしない、心こころが皮肉ひにくの雪 ゆきにおおわれ、
悲かなし みの氷こおりに閉とざされるとき、
たとえ二十 はたちでも、人ひとは老おいる。
胸むねを張はり、希望きぼうの光 ひかりを見みすえる限かぎり、
たとえ八十はちじゅうで生涯しょうがい を閉とじるときでさえ
青春゛いしゅんのままである。
